“The struggle of peoples in all spaces”

In the stories of the defenders there is a common fight, that of the peoples who know that it is not enough to survive, one must live well and put life at the center. In this second episode, we hear the voices of Berta Cáceres, Teresa Boa, Neli Almeida, Francia Márquez, Miriam Miranda, Lucinéia Freitas, Manuela Royo Letelier and Adriana Guzmán.

Over the years, common struggles have been reproduced in different territories of the world to confront the different forms of colonialism. Today people are organizing to defend their territories in the face of the advance of extractivism, the climate emergency and the systemic crises revealed by the pandemic. All spaces are spaces of struggle; from rivers to cities; in the streets and in institutions; This is why communities and their advocates have taken up the challenge to change everything, to organize hope and (re)existence.

The colonial enclaves identified by Berta Cáceres are found in different territories of the Global South. Peoples with different histories but linked processes in struggles against an oppressive matrix marked by the fire of military and paramilitary forces, extractivism, violence against women and indigenous, peasant and black communities.
