The latter was featured by a redditor who posts on the popular r/Frugal subreddit.
“It’s never completely empty“, they write. “Open that bad boy!“. Accompanying this post is a photo of a sliced open bottle of L’oreal Elvive conditioner revealing multiple hair washes (and dollars) of conditioner sitting there in the background.
“To my surprise, it was way more than I expected.“, they added in a comment.
The photo sparked a heated debate among fellow Redditors over how best to extract that last substantial amount of product from the bottle.
“We always buy the same shampoos, so we just take the cap off the new one and put the old one upside down on the new bottle and let it drain. It works perfectly“, writes a user.
“Just add water and the rest comes out“, writes another.
Another commenter agrees with the scissors method, writing: “Returning it is useless if it is a pump dispenser“.
Another was simply impressed by the original author’s skill in wielding a pair of scissors, writing: “You cut this fantasy“.
Whatever your method, doing everything you can to get every product you’ve paid for out of the box isn’t just a great way to save money. It’s also a good way to help the planet. Single-use plastics are a huge environmental problem. We produce 440 million tonnes of plastic waste per year.
So be sure to get every last drop of product from these bottles.
