Do freeze of aloe you will see at home it is really useful and simple, the only ingredient needed is a mature aloe vera plant. It is very useful to apply on cuts, wounds, burns and scars, it is also an ideal ointment for hydrate and refresh dry skin.
It is a plant easy to maintain at home, both indoors and outdoors, it requires little water, a little sun, but not much, sandy soil, it goes very well in clay pots, and it multiplies on its own, it gives birth over time over time, it also helps purify the air in the house.
You can read all about the maintenance of this plant and all its uses in our other article:
How to make aloe vera gel.
The first thing to do is to cut some leaves (called pencas) from the aloe vera plant (you should stop watering the plant about 5 days before harvest).
The leaves must be at least 20 cm high and we must choose those that are the most outside and closest to the ground, so that the plant does not suffer so much and can continue to thrive.
How to remove Aloin.
Then the penca is cut from the sides (the tip and the part of the spines) and it is soaked in water for 24 hours, this water must be changed at least twice, this is so that the resin is expelled ( call aloin), since it is toxic and irritates the skin, we must therefore avoid mixing it in our preparation.
Aloin is purgative and laxative, so in people who suffer from constipation for example, and for internal use, it may be interesting to leave some.
After removing the aloinwe are going to start peeling the thick skin from only one side of the aloe vera leaf with a knife, there we will already see the transparent gel.
If the sheet aloe vera long and thick, it can be cut into small pieces to make things easier, once we have it with something like a wooden spoon we have to extract all the gel (the pulp) that we can, scraping it up to feel the skin that we leave unpeeled.
Prepare the aloe gel so that it lasts a long time.
Place the gel in a glass blender (blender in America) and add a tablespoon of lemon juice, if we have vitamin C powder (one tablespoon) instead of lemon and a teaspoon of wheat germ oil as an antioxidant (it contains large amounts of vitamin E).
Then we mix everything at maximum speed until we get a homogeneous paste with a uniform color. Then we put it in a clean glass jar (it must be sterilized in boiling water for about 15 minutes) and with an airtight lid, once packaged it is stored in the refrigerator.
When using it, we must ensure that the elements we use to apply it are clean so as not to introduce dirt into the gel that would cause it to decompose (if we take these precautions hard weeks).
When it’s freshly prepared, it’s like a mousse on top, don’t be afraid, it’s normal, over time it becomes uniform.
To know if it has spoiled, you just have to smell it, if it smells bad you have to throw it away.
Another use that we can give it is to make shampoo with aloe vera, I leave you this fantastic recipe to obtain a solid shampoo.
