In Mexico and Guatemala, energy production is done at the expense of people through privatization, dispossession of natural assets and the violent imposition of power plants to meet growing industrial demand.

Faced with megaprojects that threaten their territories and their way of life, rural and urban communities fighting for a dignified life have made a commitment to produce their own electricity, as documented in “The People’s Energy”.

Through the voice of those who walk towards equitable, popular and sustainable energy models, the documentary allows us to discover experiences that challenge the system, considering energy as a common good and a right for all.
