We all know the love-hate relationship that much of society has with bees. We appreciate their honey and we love to see them pollinating the fields that will feed us later. but, when they get too close, panic spreads and many of them suffer the wrath of our slippers or our insecticides in an irrational way.
That they are fewer and fewer is a reality and that their existence is also in danger. And, if the consequences went that far, we could put our hands to the head and act as quickly as possible. Now, if with its disappearance other species do it too and ours is completely affected, we are talking about a very serious problem.
Today we present to you a tool that has gone viral and has become a really interesting resource. It was a design studio that promoted the idea, giving shape to an activity that many of us were already doing without resorting to bricks. We’re talking about a new home for the bees.

Since there is no hive or queen, they should pose no threat to anyone, so the irrational fear we feel when one of them wanders nearby prompts many to try and eliminate them. In front of this situation, projects such as the Bee Brick House allow them to provide them with a safe place.
It is a house for bees located in a concrete brick of which 75% of its composition comes from recycled material. It has some small cavities on the front side so that the bees, both leaf cutter masons, they can nest safely without having to suffer constant attacks from humans. They will only have to penetrate the brick through its cavities.
An idea driven by Green&Blue
Green&Blue is a design studio based in Cornwall, recognized and highly appreciated for its various innovations and proposals always betting on maintaining the balance with flora and fauna. Bee Brick House is his latest creationwhere they managed to create a completely functional as well as necessary item for bees.
This brick can be part of any exterior structure, i.e. its cavities do not affect performance in any way than any other conventional concrete brick could offer. This quality allows us to include it in any facade and thus contribute to continuing to take care of one of the most indispensable animals on the planet.
It has several sizes so that it can be used anywhere and, given its functionality, it will not be a problem for the structure in which it is included. With this initiative, we have found a new safe option for provide a safe space for bees, a currently endangered species.
