The future of the automotive sector will be 100% electric within a few years. Europe wants to introduce electric cars from 2035while in the rest of the countries of the world they will do so a few years later, where the Member States of the United Nations reached an agreement at the already closed COP27 to ban the sale of combustion vehicles from the year 2040.

Electric cars: 2030 target

According to the latest BloombergNEF report, framed during the COP27 held in Egypt, the manufacturers of the various global automotive brands have set themselves a goal: put 43 million electric cars on the road by 2030.

Despite the fact that the growth will be gradual, by the end of this year 2022, more than 10 million electric cars will have been sold in all countries of the world. China (48% of sales) and Europe (31% of sales) are the main leaders in electric car sales.

Electric cars bring great benefits to the environment. They reduce the consumption of fossil fuels thanks to the greater energy efficiency of their technology. They are the only means of transport that do not emit CO2 into the atmosphere, since they do not contaminate while driving and improve the quality of the air we breathe every day in cities.

Sales of these electric vehicles have helped clean up the atmosphere, eliminating more than 150 million tons of CO2 every year. This data represents a small victory for the energy transition, it is a sign that we are taking another step towards the long-awaited objective of carbon neutrality.

Currently, the CO2 emissions that electric cars emit into the atmosphere during their lifetime are lower than the emissions caused by internal combustion cars. Electric cars produce zero emissions while driving, as they do not emit carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx) or particulate matter (PM ), unlike internal combustion cars.

The secrets of rapid growth

The secrets to electric cars growing so quickly are that consumers have more options to choose from. According to the BNEF report, the supply of this type of car has increased by 25% compared to 2020.

Another of the main issues to deal with in this type of car is charging and autonomy. Electric mobility has come a long way in recent years thanks to advances in battery autonomy. The estimated charging time for electric cars for home use – those that are charged at home – is between 4 and 8 hours.

If you prefer to reduce the charging time, or on the contrary you don’t have a home charging system, you can find fast charging stations at gas stations that will allow you to charge your car to 80% in 30 minutes about. It is expected that by the end of this year, electric vehicle charging infrastructure will reach nearly one million public charging stations, twice as many as in 2021.
